Hot Spot: Ryan Gosling
Except for every girl’s fantasy, Ryan Gosling is one of the most talented actors in Hollywood in the last couple of years. Though he began his career at the age of 12, his star rises with The Notebook (2004), where he plays the lead role of Noah, for which he wins four Teen Choice Awards and an MTV Movie Award.
A wide range of roles followed for the Canadian actor, among which a drug-addicted teacher in Half Nelson (2006), a bachelor in the romantic comedy Crazy, Stupid, Love (2011), unnamed driver in Drive (2011) and a sergeant fighting the injustice in Gangster Squad (2013).
His role in the romantic drama Blue Valentine (2010) earns him a second Golden Globe nomination. This year’s crime drama The Place beyond the Pines reunites him with the director/writer Derek Cianfrance, with whom Gosling worked on Blue Valentine. 
The film tells the story of a motorcycle stunt rider (Ryan Gosling), who starts robbing banks to provide for his girlfriend (Eva Mendes) and their son. Today’s screening is part of the last day of Glasgow Film Festival and is a great way to say goodbye.
