Spielberg’s Jaws coming out to get you

jaws3Jaws is Steven Spielberg’s second theatrical feature and without doubt, one of the reasons for his success. Based on the eponymous novel by Peter Benchley, the film came out in 1975 and quickly surpassed The Godfather, becoming the highest grossing film in history at the time.

Starring Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw, Richard Dreyfuss and Lorraine Gary, the film tells the story of enormous, bloodthirsty white shark, which terrorizes the people of Amity Island. The police chief, an oceanographer and a shark hunter are out to kill the dreadful beast.

Jaws has won three Academy Awards – for Best Film Editing, Best Original Dramatic Score and Best Sound – and was also nominated for Best Picture.

If any of you have never watched the film, you can do so today. But beware the horror! In or out of the water, the Jaws are coming to get you! For more information how to protect yourselves, visit the Glasgow Film Festival website.
